6 arrested for thefts of over $3.7K at Burlington store in south Fort Myers
SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Six people were arrested Saturday after reportedly shoplifting a combined $3,777.78 worth of items from the Burlington store in south Fort Myers. According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, at around 2:17 p.m., deputies responded to a reported theft at the Burlington in Gulf Coast Town Center. Deputies pulled over a minivan trying to leave the shopping mall, which matched the suspect's description. All four people in the vehicle were detained. Florida deputies save baby turtles that fell in sewage drain
BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Deputies in Lee County saved a group of baby sea turtles who were in distress on Bonita Beach. They were contacted by Turtle Time, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the conservation of sea turtles, about the sea turtles who lost their way trying to head into the ocean. The turtles were disoriented when lights in the area were left on, which caused them to walk away from the water and fall into a nearby sewage drain.

Following the recent drowning of a local teen and the rescue of two others at Blind Pass, island authorities have taken additional measures to make the area safer. The body of missing swimmer Isaac Breese, 17, of Cape Coral, were recovered on July 4 by the Sanibel Police Department, two days after a call came in about three swimmers in distress. Over the two days, the SPD, both island fire districts and several area agencies searched for the missing teen.
