Call it 'Su and 'Scu forever.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of NFL free agency, Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu signed a lifetime contract with WNBA star Sabrina Ionescu, marrying the New York Liberty point guard last Sunday in Laguna Beach.
Both Grasu and Ionescu made their marks at the University of Oregon, turning the tide for both the football and women's basketball programs, respectively. Grasu earned the team's starting center job during his freshman campaign and never looked back, earning a pair of first-team All-American nominations as well as a bid to the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

The 32-year-old blocker later parlayed that success into a third-round call from the Chicago Bears at the 2015 draft (which served as a subplot on the FX comedy series "The League") and has since found a home of sorts in Las Vegas. Though he's currently a free agent, Grasu has spent the past three years with the Raiders after previously working with Chicago, Baltimore, Miami, Tennessee, and San Francisco.
Perhaps appropriately, Sunday's green guest list included mutual friend, former Oregon quarterback, and 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota (fresh off finding a new deal with the Washington Commanders), Ionescu's collegiate teammate Satou Sabally (now a WNBA All-Star with the Dallas Wings) and The Oregon Duck himself.
Ionescu, 26, is currently preparing for her fifth professional season after entering the WNBA as the top pick of the 2020 draft. She currently stands as the W's reigning three-point leader, hitting a single-season record 128 last year. Ionescu parlayed that success into a showcase at the NBA's All-Star Weekend festivities, which saw her take on Golden Star Warriors legend Stephen Curry in a three-point shootout.
"He played football at the University of Oregon," Ionescu recalled. "He’s a little older than me but we met as alumni from there and we’re now getting married in a couple of months.”
The Liberty's 2024 season opens on May 15 against the Washington Mystics.
