The Oregon Ducks recruiting drum never stops pounding. In what will be a big recruiting weekend in Eugene, including hosting a 5-star athlete out of Texas, Oregon is looking to flip 5-star plus and No. 1 wide receiver recruit in the 2026 class, Chris Henry Jr., from Ohio State.

If the Ducks manage to pull off this flip, already with 2025 WR1 Dakorien Moore committed, Oregon would have commitments from the No. 1 wide receiver in consecutive recruiting classes, bolstering their reputation as one of the truly elite programs in the country .

Chris Henry Jr. has been committed to Ohio State for a year

When you look at Henry'r recruiting profile, it'll show that he comes from the high school powerhouse Mater Dei out of Santa Ana, CA. That's only part of the story.

Henry's father, Chris Henry, was a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals after they selected him in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Henry Jr. was born in the Cincinnati area, and was raised by none other than Adam "Pac Man" Jones, his godfather, after his father passed away in 2009. Henry has lived in the Cincinnati area until transferring to Mater Dei ahead of his high school junior year this fall.

Towering at an already impressive 6'5", 205 lbs, Henry has a frame that's already built not only for college, but for the NFL. He's fluid and athletic, and has very good agility for his size.

There really isn't anything to poke holes in when it comes to his game. Henry might push to be the No. 1 overall recruit in his class, not just at his position. The last wide receiver to do that? Jeremiah Smith, No. 1 overall recruit in this year's recruiting cycle, who will be suiting up this fall for... Ohio State.

So yeah, trying to steal him away from Ohio State is going to take a momentous effort.

Oregon is trying to steal a crown jewel from the wide receiver factory

In recent years, no university has put as much wide receiver talent into the NFL as Ohio State, who is responsible for names like Terry McLaurin, Garret Wilson, Chris Olave, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and, most recently, Marvin Harrison Jr.

Ohio State isn't just a wide receiver magnet, they're also now conference rivals with the Oregon Ducks. Dan Lanning and company are looking to poach a top talent from direct competition. With Ohio State's history of success at the wide receiver position, his hometown ties, and his father's legacy, it's safe to say it isn't likely that Oregon will flip this commitment.

But if anyone can pull it off, it's Lanning.
