The new season of college football is nearly here and many are already making some bold predictions. Not only for the College Football Playoffs but also for the conference championships. With that in mind, Josh Pate of CBS Sports shares his prediction for the Big Ten Championship.
There is plenty of competition in the Big Ten this year thanks to the conference realignment. So, it's up for grabs and the winner will have a guaranteed spot in the playoffs.
During a segment on The Late Kick with Josh Pate, the popular sports analyst made his picks for the Big Ten Championship. He believes it'll come down between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks. But overall, Pate picks the Buckeyes to take home the Big Ten crown.
"But Ohio State vs. Oregon is my conference championship. Matchup and prediction? I think that's going to be the most common matchup people predict. It's the best two rosters in the conference, it's the preseason No. 1 and No. 2 to win the Big Ten."
The Ducks and Buckeyes would make for an excellent conference championship for the Big Ten. It's also interesting that the two teams face off against each other in the regular season as well. So, we could be looking at a future long-term rivalry between two of the major programs in the conference.
Last season, the Michigan Wolverines won the Big Ten Championship and eventually went on to win the National Championship as well. But with a new head coach and changes to the roster, many believe it'll be hard to Michigan to make a repeat performance.

As for Ohio State they currently hold the most Big Ten title wins (5) over any other school in the conference. They have a real chance to win their sixth with Ryan Day leading the way. The Buckeyes have a legitimate roster that should be high flying all year long.
Oregon is no joke either. They've absolutely crushed it in recruiting and the transfer portal and arguably have the best roster in the nation. They're easily one of the best teams in the country offensively and the defense has made big improvements as well.
It'll be interesting to see who will represent the Big Ten as one of the top four seeds in the College Football Playoffs. There are numerous programs worthy of making a run but we won't know how it'll play out until the season is under way.
