Oregon Ducks get huge recruiting win in landing 4-star quarterback over Ohio State, LSU, Alabama

The Oregon Ducks got back in the win column on the recruiting trail today in a massive way. After losing a couple recruits in recent weeks, Oregon locked up a key target in securing 4-star 2026 quarterback Jonas Williams, choosing Oregon over LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama.

Quarterback Jonas Williams is the third blue chip recruit for Oregon in the 2026 class

The 2025 class has plenty of headliners for Oregon, but their 2026 haul is taking shape. After landing 4-star running back Tradarian Ball , Williams gives them their first quarterback and second offensive playmaker in the class.

Williams was present at Oregon's Saturday Night Lights experience a week ago, along with fellow 2026 commit Ball and a slew of other elite talents.

"Honestly, it’s the best fit for me. I have the best relationship with that staff, [quarterback] Coach Stein. Coach Dan Lanning is going to be there for a while. He just signed that 10 year contract. So, that's important. My mom is from the west coast too. Oregon is not that far from my second home," Williams told Rivals.com.

Williams values the people and the culture at Oregon

In his interview with Rivals, Williams continued to highlight the coaching staff and the relationships with the people in the building.

"It's the coaching staff and how humble and down to earth they are. I feel I can trust those guys the most. They are on a roll with recruiting right now. They just got Dakorien Moore in the '25 class. Oregon is always going to have good receivers. So that's important. After I announce it then it's time for me to start doing my recruiting as a quarterback to build the class around me. Honestly, the position for me coming in that's important. I just feel like it's the right fit," Williams said.

Throwing to Dakorien Moore, the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class, is no small thing. Landing that recruit to begin headlining a strong wide receiver room is clearly going a long way in drawing other playmakers to the program.

Oregon is building towards a strong future in the Big Ten Conference as they attempt to reach blue blood status. With Dillon Gabriel taking over at quarterback this season, and with Dante Moore waiting in the wings, Williams will be next in line in the succession plan at quarterbacks.
