We are inching closer and closer to the 2024 college football season finally being here. We are just a few weeks until live action, making for what should be a very intriguing year. With the transfer portal and NIL landscapes the way they are, roster turnover is so constant now, making for new-look position groups seemingly every year for teams.

To highlight some of the top players, and overall position groups returning, let’s create the perfect 2024 college football offense. Using one individual player isn’t enough. No, we need the whole position group from those prospective teams. Shoutout to these talented offensive groups, and a truly dominant offensive roster.

    Oregon quarterback

This was a tough call, with other schools like Texas and Ohio State making a strong case to be near the top of the list. In the end, the Ducks’ combination of experience and young talent won out. It starts with Oklahoma transfer Dillon Gabriel, who has thrown for 14,865 yards and 125 touchdowns. The former Sooners and UCF signal caller also added 26 scores as a runner.

Behind Gabriel, Oregon is also very talented. They received another big transfer this fall when former UCLA quarterback Dante Moore opted for the Ducks, a school he was once committed to during the process. It was an up and down freshman campaign for Moore with UCLA, throwing for 1,610 yards and 11 touchdowns. Even amidst that tough campaign, you saw the talent that once made Moore considered a five-star recruit.

Add in redshirt freshman Austin Novosad and true freshman athlete Luke Moga, and you have a tremendous future under center for the Ducks. That’s a spot in good hands under head coach Dan Lanning.

    Ohio State running backs

It’s hard to argue against the Buckeyes at running back, at least for the short term. They have the most hyped duo in college football, welcoming back star runner TreyVeon Henderson. To add to Henderson, they also were able to land former Ole Miss star Quinshon Judkins in the transfer portal this offseason.

Between those two, that brings career totals of 5,470 rushing yards and 63 touchdowns. They also have hauled in 87 receptions for another 850 yards and eight more scores through the air as a duo. It’s an exciting top of the room, possessing a really nice balance of speed and power between the two. The Buckeyes spent a lot of money for them, with high expectations in 2024.

There isn’t experience behind Henderson and Judkins, so projection is needed. They do boast a really impressive true freshman in James Peoples. It’s unclear how much he will play in 2024, but if needed, the Texas native is plenty talented. So much so that he could be the lead ball carrier flashing forward to the 2025 season.

    Ole Miss pass catchers

The rich continue to get richer, giving head coach Lane Kiffin a lot of talented skill position players to work with. On Saturday, it was announced that former Utah State wide receiver Micah Davis would transfer to the Rebels, a talented space player. The crazy part, Davis is going to have a fight just to be the fourth receiver for the team.

The talented unit will be led by Tre Harris, who surprised some by returning to school in 2024. He led the Rebels in receiving last season with 54 receptions for 985 yards and eight touchdowns. His speedy counterpart Jordan Watkins also returns, going for 741 yards last season for the Rebels.

If that were the top three, it would be very good. Ole Miss also received a transfer from former South Carolina standout Antwane “Juice” Wells. He is coming off of an injury riddled 2023 season but was All-SEC the year prior, hauling in 68 receptions for 928 yards and six touchdowns for the Gamecocks. He will fight with Harris to the team’s top pass catcher.

While that wide receiver production is impressive, it doesn’t end there. Ole Miss also brings back one of the best duos at tight end in all of college football. They will be led by All-SEC standout Caden Prieskorn, who was previously a member of the Memphis program. He’s coming off of a season where he hauled in 30 receptions for 449 yards and five touchdowns for the Rebels. They will combine his bid body (6-5, 260 pounds) and ball skills with Virginia Tech transfer Dae’Quan Wright, who possesses impressive overall athleticism.

    LSU offensive line

This one is a no-brainer. There are several other good offensive lines around the country but this LSU unit doesn’t appear to have a weak spot, and brings back arguably the best offensive tackle duo in college football. Having left tackle Will Campbell and right tackle Emery Jones back is huge, both being projected as first round selections in the 2025 NFL Draft by various draft pundits.

The quality at offensive tackle leaves the interior very underrated, but that’s a talented group as well. The offensive guard pairing of Garrett Dellinger and Miles Frazier is a massive duo, and one of the better in the SEC. The Tigers are also set to start redshirt freshman DJ Chester, player the staff is super high on.

While there may be some questions around the offensive line, mainly how well Garrett Nussmeier will play and how seamless of a transition they will have at the skill positions, the LSU offensive line should be able to carry them to start the year. That’s a large, and incredibly talented group.
