Supreme Court upholds Arlington gun case. Tarrant County officials, advocates react
Across Tarrant County, officials and activists say a Supreme Court ruling with an Arlington connection will protect domestic violence survivors from gun violence. In its 8-1 decision on the United States v. Rahimi case, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a 1994 federal law prohibiting domestic violence perpetrators from owning firearms is constitutional.
Residents evacuated after construction crew damages natural gas line, officials say
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Residents and businesses were evacuated Wednesday after a construction crew damaged a gas line in North Richland Hills, officials said. The incident occurred at about 9:28 a.m. near the intersection of Glenview Drive and Daley Avenue. The North Richland Hills Fire Department responded to the scene and issued a precautionary evacuation, according to a press release from Atmos Energy.
Texas Gateway Church Not Empty Enough After Pedophilia Scandal
How would you ever justify showing up to a church where the pastor was arrested for pedophilia?. It's understood that a person is a person and a building is a building, but it would be logical to think that the building would be empty after a pastor is exposed for pedophilia. A picture shows that most of the 8,000-person capacity church is empty, but how the few could show up is beyond me. It should be noted that there are six locations of the Gateway Church and at least one was "packed" when church leaders addressed the scandal.
A Look at The New Rock and Brews Opening in Grapevine
Rock-themed restaurant and bar Rock and Brews is set to open July 2 in Grapevine, along Highway 121 north of DFW Airport between a Pappadeaux and Son of a Butcher. Rock and Brews is a concept based in California and the brainchild of concert promoter Dave Furano and his brother Micheal Zislis, a restaurateur. Rumor (and their website) has it that the two were backstage at a KISS concert hanging out with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley when Dave casually said, "What's better than rock and brews?"

2 fatally shot inside Chick-fil-A in Irving; suspect in police custody
IRVING — A man suspected of shooting and killing two people Wednesday inside an Irving, Texas, fast food chain is now in custody, police say.The suspect in the shooting at a Chick-fil-A has been identified as 37-year-old Oved Bernardo Mendoza Argueta. "We do believe this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence," Anthony Alexander with the Irving Police Department said. "There is no threat to the public."According to an arrest affidavit, Argueta's wife works at the Chick-fil-A. Police arrived at the Chick-fil-A just before 4 p.m. Wednesday after multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting. They found two people shot inside, Alexander said. Police don't know what led up to the shooting as the investigation is in the very early stages, he said. Argueta has been charged with capital murder.The victims' identities have not been released.

Arlington Independent School District (ISD) passed an unbalanced budget for the 2024-2025 school year. After several months of work, the school board passed a budget that costs $1.2 billion in total. The district will spend $42 million on its Child Nutrition Fund, $132 million on its Debt Service Fund, $380 million on its Capital Projects Fund, and $676 million on its General Fund.
