EVANSVILLE — Police are investigating after a driver struck and killed two pedestrians Thursday night near the intersection of North Fulton Avenue and West Florida Street.

The incident was reported to law enforcement at 8:34 p.m., according to Evansville-Vanderburgh Central Dispatch. Officials have not publicly identified either pedestrian who was struck and killed.

"The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for (a) blood draw, which is standard protocol anytime we have an accident resulting in serious bodily injury," Sgt. Taylor Merriss, of the Evansville Police Department, said.

Merriss added that investigators were still awaiting the results of the driver's blood draw and for the accident reconstruction report to be completed.

"At this time, no arrests are being made," Merriss said. "The driver was cooperative with officers on scene."
