Indiana Landmarks names new southwestern office director

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Indiana Landmarks has named a new director for the Southwest Field Office in Evansville.

Indiana Landmarks announced that Stephanie Richard has joined the organization as director of its Southwest Field Office in Evansville. She’ll oversee the preservation nonprofit’s work to save historic places and revitalize communities in six southwestern Indiana counties, which are Gibson, Posey, Pike, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick.

Officials say an Evansville native, Richard holds degrees in interior design, business management and English from Purdue University and the IUPUI School of Engineering and Technology. Prior to joining Indiana Landmarks, she worked as a project manager at Architectural Renovators, LLC, in Evansville and has served as a commissioner on the Evansville Historic Preservation Commission since 2018.

Officials with Indiana Landmarks explain as director of Indiana Landmarks’ Southwest Field Office, Richard will work with communities to save endangered structures and provide technical assistance to local preservation commissions, government officials, community organizations, and other groups and individuals interested in preserving historic places. She will also oversee construction management and preservation of certain buildings within the New Harmony National Historic Landmark District via a contractual arrangement with Historic New Harmony, a program of the University of Southern Indiana.

“We’re fortunate to have found a person so well suited to this position and place,” notes Marsh Davis, president of Indiana Landmarks. “Stephanie brings a deep knowledge of the region to her new role, along with a strong background in historic preservation, renovation, and design.”
