    Janet came to the group worried about some raccoons that were stuck in a dumpster. With the heat being at dangerous levels, she was worried for their well being. Citizens responded and got them out of the dumpster safely. Some citizens implied they wanted to keep them, while another citizen reminded everyone that you cannot legally have a raccoon in Missouri. If you are caught with one, they will euthanize the animal.

    First off, kudos to this person for recognizing they need help and asking to find resources locally. This could not have been an easy thing to do and our citizens showed up offering many words of encouragement and suggestions for help. Some suggestions included going to church, taking advantage of anger management classes and a therapist at Good Samaritan Center, Beacon Mental Health, boxing, Rage Cave, a video for mindful breathing, Selah Center for Women’s Ministries, and more.

    Welcome to town, Sean! The public delivered with some great suggestions for sushi in the area, including Kaji in Kearney, Mr. Le’s, Moonlight, Masabi, Legends of Asia, Blue Sushi Sake Grill, Masabi, Kura, Mint, Fuji, Golden Leaf Chinese, and more!

    At approximately 9:05 PM, a young woman riding a scooter was hit by a silver SUV at the intersection of Kearney Road and Titus.

    Witnesses reported that the male driver initially got out of his vehicle but left the scene when 911 was called. It is believed the driver had children in the car with him.

    In online discussion, the incident has raised concerns about road safety, with many calling for improved visibility and traffic management at the intersection. Some also expressed concern for the scooter rider’s safety and urged the driver to come forward.

    Authorities are seeking any information regarding this incident. Please contact the Excelsior Springs Police Department on the non-emergency line at 816-630-2000 if you can help.

    The Pisgah Baptist Church’s student retreat’s last day was helping Carol Bailey clean up her yard, move and clean her fence, trim trees, cut grass, and much more. Not all students are pictured who helped!
