McCook Aquatic Park is now open
The McCook Aquatic Park held their grand opening Wednesday. The park is a great addition to the community that has gone without an outdoor pool for the last two summers. The aquatic center was a decade-long effort with the pool committee beginning the process in 2015. Many kids have been long awaiting the grand opening, including fifth graders, Anthony Clapp and Grady Pohl.

Capron Captures Junior Gold Title
Incoming Husker freshman bowler Karina Capron took home the U18 title at the 2024 Junior Gold Championships in Allen Park, Mich., Saturday evening. Capron, the U12 2017 Junior Gold Champion, qualified for match play in sixth after five qualifying rounds. In matches of two games total pinfall, Capron defeated Maggie Smith 427-295, Amanda Lang 394-391 and Melia Mitskavich 395-373 before facing Kaitlyn Stull in a match to decide the placements for the tv show. Capron fell to Stull 441-414 and earned the second-place spot in the finals.
Cold Air Funnel Spotted Over Norfolk Saturday Afternoon
As heavy rains poured down over Norfolk late this afternoon, a cold air funnel cloud was spotted by the public over Norfolk just after 5pm. Regional Emergency Manager Bobbi Risor says the National Weather Service was aware of the cloud. While any funnel cloud is a concern, the weather service did not deem it a threat to public safety, and no warnings were issued.

Huskers projected to land four-star defensive lineman
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been projected to land a four-star prospect and class of 2025 recruit. Kade Pietrzak is a defensive lineman for Sheyenne High School in West Fargo, ND. Pietrzak is currently ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the state of North Dakota for the 2025 recruiting cycle. Bryan Munson of the On3 Network has projected an expert prediction for the Husker to receive Pietzak’s commitment. Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Kansas State are believed to be in the running. The Huskers class of 2025 holds 16 commitments and is ranked No. 28 nationwide. The Cornhuskers have also been making a series of offers to 2026 recruits but have not received any commitment. No timetable has been announced for when Kade Pietrzak will announce his decision. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are preparing to host a class of 2026 offensive linemen at the end of the month. Hudson Parliament is a 6-foot-4, 285-pound prospect from Brandon Valley High School in Brandon, SD. Parliament made headlines earlier this month with his performance at Nebraska’s Friday Night Lights camp. That performance earned him a scholarship offer from the Cornhuskers.
