You know the saying. "All good things must come to an end." And, after a dozen years in business in Port Royal, Fat Patties restaurant has made the announcement that it will be closing up shop with a last day of service on August 24th.

After a dozen years of serving up an inventive menu consisting of handcrafted burgers, sandwiches, brats, creative sides and a variety of local craft brews including ones from his own brewery, owner Nick Borreggine has decided to call it quits and close up one of the area's favorite burger spots.

In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, Borreggine said,"a heartfelt thank you to all our guests, guests who became family, employees, vendors and freinds. Without you we would have never made it."

Borreggine says that you can stop by and say goodbye, but it looks like it won't be for long. Always a creative concept restaurant-owner, it appears that Borreggine and family have something else up their collective sleeves.

"Also keep an eye out for the new and exciting restaurant concept we are building from SCRATCH," the posting added.

"Can’t wait for you to see what we have planned."

In addition to opening the mega-popular ShellRing Ale Works along the water in Port Royal a couple of years ago and recently acquiring ownership of long standing local eatery, Alvin Ord's on Ribaut Road, we fully expect to see some other good palate-pleasing things coming our way.

And we can't wait to see (taste) what it will be.
