Fall is nearly here and that means it's almost time for Oktoberfest celebrations. You've seen them, or maybe you've even been to one before.

Founded in Munich, Germany, Oktoberfest is a traditional two-week festival held each year during late September and early October. It is attended by six million people each year and has inspired numerous similar events using the name Oktoberfest in Germany and around the world, many of which were founded by German immigrants or their descendants.

One such celebration in South Carolina takes up a few city blocks.

A little bit of Germany comes each September when the town of Port Royal, South Carolina hosts its annual OktoPRfest celebration.

These southern coastal folks never go small.

The free event, fast becoming a regional favorite, returns on Saturday, September 28th from 11am to 5pm.

Dubbed, “OktoPRfest – Party Port Royal Style,” the event features local chefs, restaurants and food trucks serving up German-inspired dishes that will be properly washed down, Oktoberfest-style, with a variety of craft, imported and domestic beers.

If brats, brezn, and weinerschnitzel aren't for you, there's also tons of traditional American festival fare available.

The event also hosts live music, aerialists, Classic Car Shows, and has a large family-oriented Kids Zone for the little ones clowns, games, and lots more.

The event also hosts an artisan/craft fair, because everybody loves Lowcountry artisans.

Special to this year's celebration, the organizer promises a surprise to all in celebration of the town of Port Royal's 150th Birthday.
