ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– During the early morning on Friday, July 19, an issue with Microsoft IT sparked an internet outage that impacted a majority of the world. “Every single thing that we add to a system- also becomes a potential problem,” said Wade Baker, a Collegiate Associate Professor of Integrated Security at Virginia Tech. “And in this case, keeping that one piece of software up to date took out millions and millions of computers around the world- and organizations can’t do business- can’t process sales and lots of other things because of it- so it’s a big mess.”
White House awards Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority $2.5M to lower housing costs in Va.
VIRGINIA (WFXR)– The White House recently announced $325 million in funding from the Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant to seven communities across the country to build more homes and revitalize neighborhoods that have been left behind. One community receiving funding includes the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA), which received $2.5 million to help lower housing costs in Virginia.
