Team USA head coach Steve Kerr narrowly avoided one of the biggest failures in USA Basketball history after the national team made a 17-point comeback to defeat Serbia 95-91 in the semi-finals of the Olympics. The game was a nail-biting affair for all fans who watched it, with coach Kerr calling it one of the greatest games he's ever been a part of.

“One of the greatest basketball games I’ve ever been a part of. Humbled by being part of it.”

Just to be clear, there aren't many people in the world who can claim to have been a part of as many big games as Kerr. He won five titles as a player, three coming alongside Michael Jordan on the Bulls, which itself gave us some incredible matchups over that span. He also won two titles with Tim Duncan on the Spurs, before coaching the Warriors to four titles over a decade.

Just his Warriors stint has resulted in some of the greatest NBA games of the modern era, but very few can hold a candle to what we just witnessed. The USA looked down and out, with Jokic preparing to add another incredible feather to a cap full of accomplishments over the last few seasons.

Stephen Curry led the USA with 36 points, one shy of Carmelo Anthony's Team USA Olympic record of 37 points. LeBron James became the first player in Olympic history to have notched multiple triple-doubles, putting up 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists in this win. Joel Embiid had a crucial performance with an efficient 19 points, guaranteeing the USA goes into the Gold medal game to face France.

Stephen Curry Hasn't Had This Much Fun In A Long Time

If you look through all of Stephen Curry's interviews about the 2024 Olympics, the word 'fun' will appear all over the place. Curry has admitted that this is a fun experience for him repeatedly, with him reiterating the same after his historic performance in the win over Serbia .

"This is everything I imagined it to be. Obviously, this is my first go-around in the Olympics. Knew we were going to get challenged by a great Serbian team and, we had to beat them three times this summer - it was going to be tough."

"I just kinda got lost in the moment of understanding how big this stage is and what's at stake for this team. And it was special. This is the most fun I've had in a very long time. To dig deep like we did with this group and get a win, it's special."

Curry was being singled out as one of the USA's weaker performers through the 2024 Olympics, but he has flipped that narrative on its head with just one performance. While he might not be able to emerge as tournament MVP, the USA would be fighting for a Bronze against Germany next if he didn't show up tonight.
