Stephen Curry had a rough start to the 2024 Olympics but caught fire in the semifinal and the final to lead Team USA to a fifth-straight gold medal. After the 98-87 win over France in the final, Curry hopped on to Instagram with Anthony Edwards and revealed that his teammate joked about him only showing up to Paris a couple of days ago.

I'd say the real Steph Curry only showed up over the last couple of days. There must have been a doppelganger on the court for the first four games of the Olympics because we saw two completely different versions of him.
Curry averaged only 7.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.3 steals per game in his first four outings. The 10-time All-Star also shot just 35.8% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc and looked like a shadow of his usual self.
The U.S. was still blowing out the opposition, so Curry's struggles weren't hurting the team, but you felt they would need him to step up at some point. That proved to be the case in the semifinal and the final and boy did the 36-year-old deliver.
Curry averaged 30.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in his last two outings. The Golden State Warriors superstar found his shot too, going 62.5% from the field and 65.4% from beyond the arc, which is just absurd.
I think it's safe to say Team USA wouldn't have won the gold in Paris without Curry. They almost certainly would have lost to Serbia, as he was the one who kept them afloat in that game with a 20-point first half. Then in the final, his flurry late in the game helped put away France for good. This was Curry's first and in all likelihood last appearance at the Olympic games and he sure left his mark on the grand event.
Stephen Curry Wasn't Worried At All About His Slump
While those on the outside might have been worried about Curry's struggles in the earlier stages, the man himself wasn't. After a poor showing against South Sudan, Curry stated he wasn't worried about his shooting slump for Team USA at the Olympics.
"You’re always annoyed, for sure, you always want to make shots but you can’t let that rob you of all that other stuff that you do to help win a game. It’s an interesting dynamic with this team because first half I only had four and like three of them came in a minute-and-a-half stretch, so you’ve got to be ready for your shots."
"I’m not even worried about it, just a matter of taking the ones I know I can make and that the game calls for."
Curry was right not to be worried about it. It was only a matter of time before the shots started to fall and once they did, there was no stopping him. He was so impactful over the last two games, that Curry even managed to make the All-Star Five for the Olympics along with LeBron James , Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, and Dennis Schroder.
