Speaking on the "Gil's Arena" show, the former NBA point guard defended LeBron's MVP campaign for the 2024 Olympic Games. As the debate was heating up around Stephen Curry's win, Arenas spoke up to explain why James deserved the honor over the sharpshooter from Golden State.

"This wasn't an American committee who voted. So this has no bias on it. You're trying to take a 2-minute moment and pretend that it happened the whole Olympic games."

Team USA had a pretty impressive showing at the Olympic Games this year. After sweeping the exhibition matches, they came into the tournament as the top-ranked team. Predictably, they steamrolled through the competition and walked away with another gold medal for the USA.

With some of the best athletes in the sport, it's no wonder why Team USA was favored so heavily this summer. This year, they pulled all the stops to add the top talent, including Stephen Curry , LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Joel Embiid, and Anthony Edwards, among others.

By the end of the event, LeBron James was named as the MVP but it's no secret that was impressed with Warriors legend Stephen Curry . Many felt that Curry should have gotten the nod instead. After a relatively sluggish start to the Olympics, he caught fire down the stretch to help the USA pull away with the first-place finish.

Curry averaged 12.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in 21.8 minutes through five games. He made some big shots in the clutch with several breakout performances, including when he averaged 30 points in the final two games.

Curry, who turns 37 in March, should be at the stage where he's slowing down on the court. But as his peers and fellow players like Klay Thompson and Chris Paul start to fade, Curry has managed to maintain his status as an elite-level guard.

In the Olympics, Steph was huge for the USA, and his shooting on the perimeter not only provided scoring but also crucial floor-spacing for the bigs like Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, and Bam Adebayo to operate on the inside.

Still, LeBron James' MVP campaign was strong and well-deserved. He averaged 14.2 points, 8.5 assists, and 6.8 rebounds per game on 66% shooting in the Olympics and was the hero in the clutch with several game-saving plays.

As a 21-year NBA veteran, James' wealth of knowledge and experience was a major boost for the USA and it further enhanced his leadership in the locker room. he commanded the respect of everyone on the team and led by example with smart, selfless plays on the court.

In what was likely his final appearance at the Olympics, LeBron James made it count and he proved his worth in more ways than one. Unlike Steph and some of his other teammates, LeBron was consistent throughout the entire tournament and he was someone that the USA could lean on to carry them out of a tough situation.

For James, it's yet another achievement that he can add to his list of accolades. As a 4x champion, 20x All-NBA player, and 4x MVP, he's a winner in every sense of the word and even now, he's proving to everyone how valuable he can be in the right situation.
