LeBron James and Stephen Curry stole the show at the Paris Olympic Games this summer and now that it's over, everyone is wondering when we might see them play together again. Sadly, according to one anonymous league executive, they will never be teammates again in the Olympics or at any other level.

“Did (unnamed TV analyst) really say something about LeBron and Steph teaming up someday? That will never happen," an NBA source told Sam Amico . "In fact, they will never be on the same team again. Cool Olympic run for sure. But those two as teammates is over for all eternity.”

James and Curry were among the first group of participants to be confirmed for Team USA this summer and they both started in every game for the USA. After years of being rivals on the court, the two superstars got the chance to become teammates for the first time since All-Star weekend and they both made it count.

Together, the superstars led Team USA to an undefeated showing in the tournament. Through hard work and their fierce competitive spirit, they set the tone and gave an example for their teammates to follow. The USA won gold and LeBron won MVP for his leadership on the court and in the locker room.

Over the years, James and Curry have typically been on opposite sides and they've gone to battle severe times when the stakes were highest. So when they came together for the Paris Olympics this summer, it was a rare opportunity to see the two legends combine their talents toward a common goal.

James, 39, is coming off his 21st season in the NBA with averages of 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game on 54.0% shooting. After signing a two-year deal with the Lakers this summer, LeBron has plans to close out his career alongside his son, Bronny, in the Purple and Gold.

Curry, a 15-year veteran, was drafted by the Warriors in 2009. His perimeter shooting has fundamentally changed the game and it's the secret that helped him deliver four championships. Today, following four championships, Steph is still one of the best in the world but the Warriors are committed to keeping him in their jersey for the rest of his career .

So as good as LeBron James and Steph Curry played together this year, it was probably the last we'll ever see of them on the same side at this level of the game. At 39 and 36, respectively, James and Curry are nearing the end of their journeys, and joining forces again is just not in the cards like it used to be.

Steph has already said this was his first (and last) Olympic run, and we already know that LeBron James is going to be fully returned for the sport by the time 2028 rolls around. Going forward, James and Curry will return to being adversaries and as long as they are healthy and active, the Lakers and Warriors will continue to be powerful forces in the West.
