South second in tourney, qualifies for World Series
The South Brunswick Major baseball team (ages 11-12) finished second in the Diamond Youth Baseball Division II state tournament at Lockwood Folly District Park. Whiteville National beat South 7-3 in the title game Thursday at Lockwood Folly. Whiteville finished 5-0. It won its first four games in shutouts and scored at least 10 runs in each of those victories.
Man pleads guilty after hit-and-run in Myrtle Beach left Elon student dead
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A man has been sentenced after a hit-and-run left an Elon student dead. According to the Horry County Clerk of Court, Jason Sauro pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and battery and the judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison suspended to five years’ probation.
