Win prizes and support local business in the Fair Lawn Scavenger Hunt. Here's how

Fair Lawn on Thursday kicks off its third annual Small Business Scavenger Hunt , a month-long event that aims to bring attention to businesses both old and new in the borough.

The scavenger hunt, organized by Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. and the Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce, encourages residents and visitors to go all over town and take selfies in front of participating businesses for a chance to win prizes.

The event exploded last year with 800 selfie submissions, up from about 300 in the first year, said Ryan Greff, the executive director of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. This year, he's hoping to break 1,000.

Prizes include gift cards for Fair Lawn business and grand prizes that include a flat-screen television or a Playstation 5. Those who want to enter must take a digital photo of themselves at any of the participating stores or show a receipt for a purchase made at these businesses.

For every five destinations visited, participants will be entered into a raffle to win one of 10 local gift cards, according to Main Street Inc. They'll be placed in a drawing for the TV or Playstation after visiting 10 businesses.

Ten new businesses have been added to this year’s hunt: Bubbakoo's Burritos, Buffalo Wild Wings 'GO', Francesca's Deli, Hey Yogurt, Santos Florist, Shoti Bread House, Taste of Home, Land and Sea Restaurant, Valentino’s Pizza & Pasta and Wilkes Deli.

While Land and Sea is a longstanding business, the others are all new to the town, noted Greff.

“By including them in the scavenger hunt, the goal is to show them how welcome they are in Fair Lawn,” he added.

The scavenger hunt runs through August. Selfies and/or photographs of receipts should be emailed to Greff at rgreff1@ramapo.edu before Aug. 31 at 11:59 p.m. to be considered for the prizes.
