Thai 9 expands hours, now open for lunch on weekends
Thai 9 in Dayton’s Oregon District is expanding its hours starting this weekend. The restaurant, located at 11 Brown St., will now be open for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays starting July 6. To celebrate, those who purchase two entrees from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday will receive a free order of crab rangoon.
Potato Cakes return to Arby’s

Ohio Ice Cream Trail features 54 stops including several in Dayton region
It’s National Ice Cream Month and TourismOhio has relaunched its Ice Cream Trail highlighting more than 50 stops throughout the state. “The Ohio Ice Cream Trail is a fun and unique way to explore the state and support our communities,” said Lydia Mihalik, director of the Ohio Department of Development which oversees the TourismOhio office. “The Trail truly shows that we’re the heart of it all, bringing together our state’s rich agricultural heritage, culinary culture, manufacturing innovation, and support for small businesses.”

Mundy to perform in Troy
TROY — Fridays on Prouty concert series will host the Ryan Mundy Band on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. Mundy comes from Springfield, with what he calls “rockin’ country music.” His style combines country threads of sweet soulful life-longing lyrics with red-hot-rock edges to make a modern country sound. He is a six-time nominee for the Josie Music awards at the Grand Ole Opry House for Best Male Vocalist in 2022 and for Song of the Year for “On You” and Best Music Video for “Truck Thang” in 2023. Ryan Mundy is an Ohio-original and a rising force in the Ohio country music scene. He is a hardworking, tireless performer with a bright vision for his style. His latest recording is “Payin My Dues,” which speaks of his energy and determination.
Summer Fun this July at RiverScape MetroPark
RiverScape MetroPark is buzzing in July with exciting events and activities. The United Irish of Dayton Celtic Festival comes alive at the park on Friday, July 26, from 5:30 to 11 p.m., marking attendance to one of the region’s largest summer events. The weekend-long celebrations include a 5/10K race, live music, dancing, and other fun activities, culminating on Sunday, July 28, at 6 p.m.
Noah Wotherspoon Band performs in Troy
TROY — Noah Wotherspoon revealed his exceptional guitar skills by the age of 11. As a young teenager he had his own band called Noah and the Stratocats, who won a spot on the prestigious Chicago Blues Fest stage when he was just 16. The Stratocats played the Chicago Blues Fest for the next eight years. In 2015 Noah received the Albert King award for Best Guitarist at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. Wotherspoon started as a kid from Dayton, Ohio who had an affinity for the guitar, but he soon found himself touring America and performing at the world’s Blues Festivals. He has toured Eastern Europe many times and was the headliner at the Reykjavik Blues Festival in Iceland and the Salva Jazz & Blues Festival in Salvatierry, Mexico.

New brewpub with indoor playground to open with southwest-inspired menu, variety of beers
What started as an idea for someone else to do has turned into a family project with an opening date right around the corner. Springboro natives Brianna and Jordan Joo found themselves in desperate need of a date night after a miscarriage in 2018. They wanted to go to a brewery to talk, but didn’t have a babysitter for their daughter. They had joked that someone needed to open a brewery in the Dayton area with an indoor playground, but over the next couple of months they realized they should be the ones to do it.

Concert series will feature Solistic
TROY — The Troy-Hayner Cultural Center will host Solistic on Tuesday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. This wildly creative band hails from Dayton, and includes Khrys Blank and Eric Reith on percussion, Brad Denson on bass, Josh Johnson on drums, Eric Henry on guitar and Damien Dennis on keys. They call themselves a “multi-genre collective” of musicians from a variety of backgrounds and influences producing their own version of “funky original rock.” We might slide from rock to jazz to somewhere in bluesland without realizing we’ve been traveling. It will be a lucky night at the Hayner with this percussion-led soulful sound.

New Jubie’s Creamery ice cream shop opens in Troy.
TROY — Jubie’s Creamery, a local ice cream shop throughout the Dayton area, has opened in Troy. Jubie’s Creamery is owned by Stacey, Fred, and daughter Julie Domicone, who opened their third creamery at 79 Foss Way on Monday, July 1. The owners established their first Jubie’s Creamery in Fairborn, in July 2018; their second creamery opened in Moraine, in May 2022.
