    Friends not food: Chicken keepers invited to ‘Flock Talk’ at Fairfax County Animal Shelter

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Fairfax County Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Bird Network is hosting “Flock Talk: An Introduction to Chicken Behavior” for anyone interested in bird keeping.

    The free class will be held on Sunday, July 28, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Lorton Campus, located at 8875 Lorton Road.

    “Whether you’re considering adopting a new bird, a seasoned backyard chicken keeper or just curious about chickens, this class is perfect for you!” the shelter stated on Facebook.

    “Flock Talk” will cover topics such as a flock’s hierarchy, how they communicate, feeding and foraging habits and more.

    Friendly roosters will also be there for a meet-and-greet.
