Palmer Cup Play Starts Friday for Sambach and James
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia golfers Amanda Sambach (Pinehurst, N.C.) and Ben James (Milford, Conn.) begin play for the United States team at the 28th Arnold Palmer Cup matches on Friday. This year’s event is hosted by Lahinch Golf Club located on the west coast of Ireland. This marks the second consecutive year both Cavaliers have played for the U.S. Team at the Palmer Cup. They helped the U.S. Team to a 32-28 victory at Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, Pa.

Longtime Weston High School Educator Debbie (Hogan) Pender Retires

As it is, this is an announcement that one of the most iconic figures in Weston High School history has made the 2023-24 school year her last, ending a spectacular teaching, coaching and administrative career that has lasted 40 years. According to information provided by the Weston High School Alumni Association, Pender leaves with the distinction as being the longest serving faculty member in Weston High School history.
Lola Barrett Named CSCAA Scholar All-American
Greg Vasil FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University women’s swim and dive team secured their first College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Second-Team Scholar All-American as junior Lola Barret was awarded on Wednesday. Second-Team selections, must also earned a 3.5 GPA or higher and met a “B” time standard for the national championship or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet. Barret secured a 4.0 GPA as a Communication Disorders major.
