Missing Connecticut teen found safe in New Jersey after 11-day search

Police have successfully located a 16-year-old girl in Warren County, N.J. , 11 days after she allegedly ran away from her home in Fairfield, Conn.

The teen was found safe and unharmed in Greenwich Township early Saturday morning, and was promptly reunited with her family, reported NBC News.

Fairfield police said Saturday she appeared to be in good physical health.

The 16-year-old was last seen on July 2 at approximately 5:45 p.m., when she left her home in Fairfield, telling her family she was going for a walk, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

But the girl never returned home. She reportedly disabled the location services on her cellphone and was not active on social media.

Multiple witnesses at a nearby I-95 rest area told police they had been approached by the girl, who said she was running away from home and wanted a ride.

She was seen on surveillance footage getting into a black Saturn Ion with Massachusetts plates, which drove her southbound.

That vehicle was later located in Charlotte, N.C., on July 5, when the driver told police he dropped the girl off at a gas station on North Black Horse Pike in Bellmawr, N.J., a suburb of Philadelphia.

Footage from a Bellmawr auto repair shop on July 3 showed her at the location, roughly 160 miles from her home in Fairfield.

An investigation into the circumstances of her disappearance is currently ongoing, according to Fairfield police.

The girl’s mother described her as a timid student, who has had previous struggles with her mental health .
