Engine 2 tied into a hydrant and began fire suppression with multiple hand lines in addition to utilizing the deck gun. However, suppression efforts were limited until PSE&G arrived and secured the power to the electrical equipment covering the tractor trailer.

The Fairfield Fire Department was assisted by Pine Brook Volunteer Fire Department , providing relief approximately two hours into the incident. All units were cleared four hours after the initial response to the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The Fairfield Fire Prevention Bureau is conducting the investigation.
