MONTVILLE, NJ – The Pine Brook Volunteer Fire Department was kept busy on July 2 by two back-to-back calls in the region, one on Route 80 and one in Fairfield, they reported on Facebook.

Just before 7 a.m., NJ State Police called the volunteers to Route 80 for a rollover and fuel leakage of a commercial vehicle. A dump truck had rolled over on 80 east at mile marker 49.

“The morning commute traffic made for a difficult response as it delayed us because of sheer volume,” the post states.

Parsippany’s hazmat team and the volunteers took about two hours to contain the spill while  the truck was turned right-side-up.

As the volunteers were cleaning up and getting ready to leave Route 80, “a huge plume of black smoke” developed in the east.

It was a fully involved tractor trailer against a building that was located on Stewart Place in Fairfield. The volunteers were called to Fairfield for that fire for about an hour and a half.
