FAIRFIELD, NJ -- Two adults and one minor have been arrested by Fairfield police in connection with two separate burglaries that took place in Fairfield earlier this year.
The first of these cases took place on Feb. 6. On that date, at approximately 1:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to a burglary that had occurred at the Speedway Gas Station on Route 46 East. The alarm monitoring station was able to provide live-time dispatch stating a gray SUV with three occupants was seen leaving the property. Upon police arrival, they confirmed the business was burglarized, and no suspects were located.
Det. Rick Alves investigated the burglary, and, after working with numerous police agencies, identified the vehicle to be a gray BMW X7 bearing a stolen New Jersey registration which had yet to be reported by the victim.
The same vehicle and occupants also allegedly were involved in similar burglaries in Roseland, Secaucus and Hasbrouck Heights after leaving Fairfield that morning. It was further determined the suspects and vehicle were also wanted for crimes in multiple other New Jersey towns, as well as in New York and Connecticut.
Through investigation, Alves was able to identify two suspects, one being Antonio Ginestri, 19, of Queens, N.Y. and a 16-year-old juvenile whose identity was being withheld due to the suspect's age. A warrant was issued for Ginestri, who was subsequently arrested on May 16 by officers of the New York Police Department’s 114 th Precinct. Ginestri was charged with burglary, employing a juvenile in the commission of a crime, theft, and two counts of conspiracy. He is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail on unrelated charges. The juvenile was also charged with burglary, theft, and two counts of conspiracy for the crimes that occurred in Fairfield.
“Ginestri is a well-known social media influencer who goes by the handle ‘Squeeze.Benz,’” said Fairfield Public Information Officer Stacy Chiarolanza. “The basis of his channel is to film himself driving hi-end cars in a reckless manner to entice a police response while wearing a full-face helmet to hide his identity. We thank all of the agencies who assisted in putting this case together in order to make an arrest.”
The second case occurred on April 18 at approximately 2:24 a.m. Officers were dispatched to United Tower Associates, LLC, for an activated burglar alarm. Upon arrival, officers observed the front glass door to the business had been smashed. Officers conducted an interior check and no suspects were located. With the assistance of the business owners, officers were able to view security footage. At approximately 2:12 a..m., officers allegedly observed two males exit from a gold minivan, approach the business, and gain entry with the use of a pry bar and hammer. Stolen during this burglary were more than 280 Apple iPhones totaling over $117,000.
Det. Nicholas Cocchi investigated the burglary and was able to identify the gold minivan through Automated License Plate Readers. Further investigation led to the identification of Carlos Brito, 18, of Passaic as one of the suspects. A warrant was issued and Brito was subsequently arrested and charged on July 12 with burglary, theft, possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief, and two counts of conspiracy. He is currently being held in the Essex County Jail. Detectives are still working to identify the second suspect in this case.
