    Sisters Taylor Stone and Riley Stone each brought home a third place medal from the State Powerlifting Meet at the Comerica Center in Frisco on Thursday, March 14.

    Also competing at the state meet for the Lady Eagles were Callie Morgan, Destiny Dowell, and Emma Jo Smith. Out of 65 schools, Fairfield came in 14th place overall with six points.

    San Diego won the state meet with 29 points followed by Cotulla with 23 points.

    Senior Taylor Stone won third place in the 132 division with a squat of 350 pounds, bench press of 240 pounds, and deadlift of 305 pounds for a total of 895 pounds.

    In the 105 class, freshman Rylie Stone entered the competition in sixth place overall.

    She managed to work her way up to a third place finish. She had a squat of 275 pounds, bench press of 150 pounds, and deadlift of 290 pounds for a total of 715 pounds.

    “Powerlifting has been such a big aspect of my life over the last three years, and getting the opportunity to experience it with my younger sister was such an amazing feeling,” Taylor said. “I am beyond proud of her and the hard work we put in together to medal at state my last year. I am so grateful to have had the chance to share my love for this sport with her at such a high level, and I cannot wait to see how she grows over the next few years.”

    Callie Morgan placed eleventh in the 242 division with a squat of 320 pounds, bench press of 185 pounds, and deadlift of 320 pounds for a total of 825 pounds.

    In the 114 class, Emma Jo Smith had a squat of 315 pounds and a bench press of 185 pounds, before bombing out in deadlift.

    Destiny Dowell lifted in the 242+ division, but was disqualified.

    She had a squat of 490 pounds, bench press of 240 pounds, and deadlift of 400 pounds.
