A Manns Choice woman was charged with identity theft and theft of services after allegedly opening an electricity account in the name of a close relative. In August of 2021, Tracy Gauthier, 54, opened a Penelec account using a close female relative’s name and identity information without her knowledge.

Bedford Borough under mandatory water notice. Until further notice, the Borough’s Municipal Authority has issued a mandatory water conservation notice. Prohibited uses include watering lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, trees, shrubs and outdoor plants, watering golf courses, washing paved surfaces, such as streets, sidewalks, driveways, garages, parking areas, tennis courts and patios, operating water fountains, artificial waterfalls and reflecting pools, washing vehicles, serving water in eating places unless specifically requested by the individual, filling and topping off swimming pools. Pitt St., Suite 2, Bedford, has announced its upcoming auditions. “Merry Wives of Windsor” auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 and 2 p.m. Aug. 4. Actors ages 16 and older may audition. Show dates are 7 p.m. Sept. 13, 14, 20, 21 and 2 p.m. Sept. 15. Sign-ups are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Actors ages 18 and older can sign up to be cast in an original murder mystery that will be staged at Royer Mansion in Williamsburgat 6 p.m. Sept. 28. The Junior Fair Board announces a series of events as part of the 150th Bedford County Fair. From ceremonies to activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy. A cornhole tournament will be held at 6 p.m. in the Show Arena. Teams can sign up on the day of the tournament at the Fair. The Grandstand for a Military/Veteran Appreciation Ceremony takes place on July 22 at 5 p.m. Ceremony highlights include community speakers, music by Route 869, honored guests, and a Blackhawk helicopter appearance. Come out to honor those who serve and have served our country with valor. Following the military ceremony, the Grandstand will be at 7 p.m. with ‘Voices on the Grandstand,’ featuring performers from our local community. Gerald L. Thomas
Gerald L. Thomas, 90, formerly of Thomasdale, died July 16, 2024 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. He was born on March 4, 1934 in Thomas Mills, son of J. Wesley and Bessie M. (Weaver) Thomas. He was preceded in death by wife, Joyce E. (Stemmler) Thomas on April 5, 2024; brothers, Richard and R. Glenn Thomas and infant twin sisters Irene and Arlene. Survived by son, Douglas B. Thomas, married to the former Roberta A. Folton and sister-in-law Margaret of Davidsville. Gerald was a 1952 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School and a graduate of Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia. He also received a degree as a Nurse Anesthetist from Reading Hospital. He retired from Mercy Hospital of Johnstown as a Nurse Anesthetist. He enjoyed working on and rebuilding any vehicle with an engine. He was a member of AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America), including charter member of the Flood City Region of AACA and was a member of Early V-8 Ford Club and EMMR (Eastern Museum of Motor Racing). At his request there will be no viewing or service. Interment at Thomas Mennonite Church Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Sixteen Hit Offensive Outburst Lifts Somerset Over Erie
The Somerset Patriots were propelled by a 16 hit offensive explosion in their 10-3 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Saturday night in game five of a six-game series at UPMC Park in Erie, PA. Eight different batters had a hit, while six different Patriots had multiple hits in the contest. Somerset’s 16 hits marked their second highest total in a game this season, trailing only their 17 hits vs. BOW on 5/31. The Patriots went 8-for-16 (.500) with runners in scoring position, their best single-game mark this season.
