Baltimore, Md. (From the U.S. Department of Justice) – “A federal grand jury has returned an indictment charging Amit Ahuja, age 40, of Westminster, Maryland, Kapil Gulati, age 50, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, and Priyanshu Walia, age 39, of Cleveland, Ohio, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud in connection with a technical support scheme where victims were made to believe that their computers had been compromised by a virus, or were susceptible to hacking, and payments were needed for computer repair services or software.

2 Men Sentenced for Possessing Thousands of Fentanyl Pills
Codefendants Malik Marin, 27, and Tuflah Davies, 27, were both sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a large amount of fentanyl. Marin, of Bowie, and Davies, of Laurel, traveled from Los Angeles to Rockville via Amtrak train and were transporting drugs, according to court documents.

Governor Moore Attends Groundbreaking for New State Police Tactical Services Administration Building
Governor Wes Moore this week joined the Maryland Department of State Police and Maryland Department of General Services for the groundbreaking at the new Maryland State Police tactical services administration building in Jessup, Maryland. The new facility will help make Maryland safer through enhanced capacity to support specialized emergency and first responders from across the state. Governor Wes Moore calls this enhanced service an important step toward ensuring officers and public safety leaders have the resources and training they need to respond immediately, whenever crisis strikes–adding that this new building will keep Maryland prepared, keep Maryland alert, and keep Maryland safe. The $12.1 million project is part of a complex that houses various offices including the Maryland State Police Waterloo Barrack, special operations, administrative and procurement support, and fleet maintenance and outfitting. The new 22,000 square foot facility will be home to units for the Maryland State Police and the Office of the State Fire Marshal, including K-9 Units, the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad and the Underwater Recovery Team. The facility will also serve as a statewide emergency operations center for first responders.

A plan to build 110 townhouses on the southeast portion of the sprawling WestEnd development is heading to the Alexandria Planning Commission. City Council approved the four million square-foot redevelopment at the former home of Landmark Mall in 2021, with blocks L and M reserved for for-sale residential development. Blocks L and M, along Duke Street near N. Van Dorn Street, take up more than 100,000 square feet.
