Theatre Review: ‘Disney’s The Little Mermaid’ presented by Rockville Musical Theatre at F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre
It has always been easy to love a Disney princess. “The Little Mermaid” is a timeless classic that has been told countless times over the years in many different ways. The adult stage version, which Rockville Musical Theatre (RMT) is currently presenting, takes liberties with the 1989 movie. It still follows the familiar fairy tale of Ariel (Neva Keuroglian Sullivan) trading her voice for legs, but in this version, several side characters get their own solos and, at the end, Ariel saves herself rather than needing Prince Eric (Ryan Kieft) to save her. The stage version is also peppered with more self-aware fish jokes and backstory for Ursula (Iris Dewitt) and Triton (Brian McCafferty). These changes add a sense of modernity and levity to the age-old story, bringing new life to audiences already familiar with the songs.

Annapolis Blues FC Finishes Regular Season with 5-0 Win over Grove United
The Annapolis Blues secured a 5-0 win over Grove United in its final game of the 2024 regular season, clinching the top seed in the Mid-Atlantic Conference Playoffs. While the opening 20 minutes saw minimal attacking action, it was still a display of domination by the Blues. Annapolis maintained the majority share of possession and found the breakthrough in the 21st minute. Miles Avery continued his hot streak, scoring off of a corner kick. Matias De Jesus managed to save a bouncing ball that almost went over the end line, kicking a volley across and into the mouth of the goal. The Grove defender attempted to clear the ball. However, his clearance fell right to the feet of Avery who took a touch to settle and finished calmly into the back of the net.
