Adams Morgan bar hosts PowerPoint party
WASHINGTON - Johnny Pistola's, a bar in Adams Morgan, is hosting a PowerPoint party. The bar is calling for attendees to create their own PowerPoint presentations and share them with the class. There are no requirements on topics, but the presentation should be no longer than seven minutes. No vulgar or offensive. Presenters are also asked to use discretion when discussing other people.

Metro Washington Association of Blind Athletes (MWABA) was thrilled to receive a grant from Adventure Cycling for our second annual tandem bike camping trip. This year, 25 campers braved the heat to camp with us on the Marsden Track on the C&O Canal Towpath. Of this year’s group, three people were first-time bike campers. Through a heat advisory, a detour, and many more adventures, we managed to roll with the flow and had a great time!

Person struck, killed by train at Fort Totten Metro station
WASHINGTON — A person is dead after being hit by a Metro train Wednesday morning. DC Fire and EMS crews were called to the Fort Totten Metro station around 11:30 a.m. for a report of a person hit. Once on scene, the person was declared dead. Metro said the person intentionally placed themselves on the tracks.

Chick-fil-A has debunked a viral TikTok rumor claiming that the popular fast-food chain will be disposing of its popular waffle fries. According to USA Today, the rumor was started by a TikTok user named @Bri.Daniela1. In a video she posted on Saturday, July 20, she claimed that she was an employee of the popular fast-food restaurant with “inside knowledge” on the chain’s plan to take waffle fries off the menu.
Person arrested after walking up to Secret Service claiming he had a gun
WASHINGTON — A person is under arrest and facing charges after walking up to a Secret Service agent to tell them they had a gun in their possession on Tuesday. Just after 6 p.m., a member of the U.S. Secret Service was approached by a person near 16th Street NW and Consitution Avenue. The person claimed to have a gun in their car near the National Mall.
2 Men Sentenced for Possessing Thousands of Fentanyl Pills
Codefendants Malik Marin, 27, and Tuflah Davies, 27, were both sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a large amount of fentanyl. Marin, of Bowie, and Davies, of Laurel, traveled from Los Angeles to Rockville via Amtrak train and were transporting drugs, according to court documents.

Hypergoat Coffee Roasters will be opening a café in Alexandria this month. Hypergoat Coffee Roasters was started by husband-and-wife duo Rodrigo Ramos (pictured at a farmers' market) and Deborah Joos. They started roasting coffee in their Southern California garage in 2015, before moving to the East Coast and launching Hypergoat Coffee Roasters here in Alexandria. They've been selling their roasted whole beans at local farmers' markets, online, and through the Made in ALX store in Old Town North.
Noah Lyles, Christian Tabash eye gold in Paris Olympics
