Ryan McCrystal has been on rosters for baseball games in Burlington probably as often as anybody across the past few years. Now, he’s a draftee of the Cincinnati Reds. McCrystal has played four consecutive summers in Burlington, beginning with a high school state championship series and then parts of three seasons with the Burlington Sock Puppets. Sheriff's office warns of phone scam targeting Cumberland County residents
The Sheriff's Office is warning the public of a phone scam targeting Cumberland County residents. The sheriff's office said citizens are receiving phone calls from callers impersonating law enforcement officers claiming to be Sergeant Hamlett. The caller says they have legal papers and must call back immediately. When calling the number back the impersonator has the voicemail set up to reflect the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. The number calling citizens is 910-479-5277.
Atrium Health earns Joint Commission gold seal for spine surgery
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health Pineville recently earned the Joint Commission's gold seal of approval for advanced certification in spine surgery. Twenty-three hospitals in the U.S. currently hold this designation, three of which are under Atrium Health's network, according to a July 18 news release. The Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center was recertified in 2023, while Atrium Health Cabarrus received its certification in 2022.
