Southern Minnesota to Adopt 10-Digit Dialing
Residents and businesses in the 507 area code, which includes cities like Rochester, Faribault, Owatonna, Mankato, and Winona, will need to switch to 10-digit dialing starting July 30th. This change is necessary because the 507 area code is projected to run out of numbers by early 2025, prompting the addition of a new 924 area code.
Minneapolis man dies after being pulled from St. Croix River
AFTON, Minn. — A Minneapolis man has died after being pulled from the St. Croix River east of the Twin Cities Wednesday, according to officials.The Washington County Sheriff's Office says deputies were dispatched at 9:41 a.m. to Afton State Park Beach for a possible drowning near the campgrounds. Witnesses at the beach said a 27-year-old man was swimming 20 to 30 feet offshore in about 12 feet of water when they lost sight of him. Sen. Nicole Mitchell burglary case: Prosecutors seek to remove judge
(FOX 9) - Prosecutors are asking for the removal of the judge just assigned to oversee the burglary case against Minnesota state Senator Nicole Mitchell. Mitchell (DFL-Woodbury) is accused of breaking into her stepmother's home in Detroit Lakes in April, dressed all in all-black, in the middle of the night. According to the criminal complaint, Mitchell admitted to police she knew she did "something bad" and said she had come to get some of her late father's possessions.
MN deputy recognized for helping trooper under fire during Sturgis shooting
(FOX 9) - An Anoka County Sheriff's deputy has been recognized as the Minnesota Police and Peace Officer Association's 2024 Officer of the Year. Tanner Shipman earned this title while off-duty at last year's Sturgis Rally, where he ran to help a South Dakota State Trooper who was being shot at by 28-year-old Wyatt Fluty.
Minnesota United's Robin Lod makes MLS All-Star roster
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota United midfielder Robin Lod is an All-Star for the first time in his career, the team announced Monday.Lod, 31, was selected for the 2024 team by All-Star head coach Wilfried Nancy. He leads his squad and is tied for third in MLS with 11 assists. He's also logged five goals this season, and is Minnesota United's all-time leading MLS scorer with 29 goals. The All-Star game is set for July 24 in Columbus, Ohio.Lod is the first United player to make the All-Star roster since goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair and midfielder Emmanuel Reynoso in 2022. That year, the All-Star game was played at Allianz Field in St. Paul, MNUFC's home stadium.Nancy selected 16 of the All-Star roster's 30 players. Fans, players and media added an additional 12 through voting and league commissioner Don Garber named two players.Minnesota has 29 points on the season with a record of 8-7-5, good for seventh in the Western Conference.
