Areas of Greenville closed due to rising water levels after heavy rains
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – With rain falling over the past several days, problems are continuing for parts of Eastern North Carolina, including some closures of the Greenville Greenway along the Tar River. According to a Facebook post Thursday afternoon by Greenville Recreation and Parks, water levels have increased along that river. Closures include:

Pitt commissioners authorize first steps in starting pretrial release program.
The Pitt County Board of Commissioners has approved the first steps to launch a pretrial services program. The board voted 6-0 to adopt the recommendation of the Pretrial Services Advisory Board and requested it bring back a detailed budget for getting a program underway. South Washington Street intersection closing next week for 5-6 months
