FALL RIVER — The Herald News continues Spring All-Scholastics with girls tennis all-stars.
There were excellent performances from players from Fall River area schools — Case, Diman, Durfee, Somerset Berkley and Westport — this spring.
Sophomore Gloria Moniz was the best of the best for the Bengals this spring, which was why she was named the Herald New s Girls Tennis Player of the Year.
The Herald News is pleased to announce the 2024 Spring All-Scholastics Girls Tennis all-stars from Greater Fall River:
Player of the Year
Gloria Moniz, Diman
Moniz had an outstanding season for the Bengals at second singles this past spring. The sophomore star finished with an impressive 10-2 record and helped lead Diman to a 9-3-1 record. She was named a Mayflower Athletic Conference all-star. Out of 173 games played, Moniz won 129 games (75%). One of her standout strengths was her strong backhand, which she used to great effect throughout the season. She consistently demonstrated her skill and athleticism on the court, establishing herself as a reliable and formidable player. "Gloria's ability to combine athletic prowess with strategic shot placement made her a key player on the team," Diman head coach Steven Camara said. "Her impressive record is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and skill, making her one of the standout performers of the season."
