FALL RIVER — The public pool at Lafayette Park has been closed temporarily after broken glass ended up in the water due to vandalism.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool is overseen by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation.

DCR announced Thursday that it will drain and clean the pool before reopening it. There is no set timeline as to when that will happen.

“DCR is committed to providing a safe environment for guests and will provide updates on the reopening as soon as possible,” a DCR statement read.

DCR did not specify how the broken glass ended up in the pool.

The splash pad and pool recently underwent renovations in time for summer.
