    Two Fall River athletes win gold at Bay State Games

    FALL RIVER — It was all golden for Shawn Kalunga and Thalys Silva.

    The Atlantis Charter student athletes recently captured gold medals during the Bay State Summer Games Track and Field event at Regis College in Weston.

    Kalunga won gold in the mile competiton while Silva captured gold in the triple jump and a silver medal in the triple jump. Kalunga and Silva each compete for soccer and outdoor track teams for the Tritons.

    Both athletes are a part of the senior class of 2025.

    Former athletes such as Dana Barros, Reggie Lewis, Nancy Kerrigan, Ray Bourque, Rebecca Lobo and others each competed at the Bay State Games over the years.

    The Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation is a non-profit organization with the primary function of organizing the Bay State Summer and Winter Games. These programs attract more than 7,000 athletes from the state of Massachusetts, who compete in over 30 different sports.
