CLARK — A 79-year-man is in custody after police say he barricaded himself inside a house early Wednesday morning. Clark police Capt. Miguel Acabou said shots were heard fired at a home on Stanton Street in Clark Township near the Rahway border around 12:30 a.m. The Union County SWAT unit was called to the scene after officers found Kenneth Kutya barricaded inside the house with a weapon.
Woman killed during microburst storm at popular NY campsite identified
A woman who was killed when a large tree fell onto her camper during a severe microburst storm on Sunday has been identified. Carol E. Luistro of Edison, New Jersey, was pronounced dead at the scene, after the storm tore through the Russell Brook campground in Delaware County Sunday morning, according to the Colchester Police Department.

SHORT HILLS, NJ — The second half of June saw numerous shoplifting attempts at the Mall at Short Hills and a car was stolen on the Neiman Marcus parking deck. A man from the Bronx concealed $620 worth of merchandise from Neiman Marcus in the Short Hills on June 19 and left the store. Police arrested him and charged him with multiple counts of shoplifting. A few days later, police arrested someone who had stolen $2,965 of merchandise from Neiman Marcus. Detectives hunt for killer in fatal N.J. shooting
A man was shot and killed in Newark Tuesday night, and authorities were looking for the shooter on Wednesday, authorities said. Newark Police officers went to the 200 block of Park Avenue at 9:30 p.m. on a report of a shooting, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said in a joint announcement. The officers found a male victim unconscious and suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound, Stephens and Fragé said.

The grandson of the 80-year-old woman found dead in a Perth Amboy home on Sunday has been charged with her murder, prosecutors said Monday evening.
