Staten Island golf: 41st annual S.I.G.A. Parent-Child/Family Day Championships set for Saturday
In 1984 Steven F. Zuntag, founder of the Staten Island Golf Association (S.I.G.A.), played with his son Matthew, a 15-year-old at the time, in the Metropolitan Golf Association’s Father-Son event, for the first time. A number of other Staten Island fathers and sons played in the event, and the group of fathers decided it was time to have their own “Parent-Child” event every summer on Staten Island. Forty years later, the event will be contested again on Saturday at Silver Lake.
