FARGO, ND ( KXNET ) — A truck fire on a Fargo interstate has resulted in the total loss of a vehicle, as well as a crash in nearby Minnesota, on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 3.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on I-94 between the Red River Bridge and the University Drive exit when its driver (a 67-year-old man from Davenport) noticed smoke coming from the vehicle.

As he pulled over to the outside shoulder, he observed that the car was on fire, and exited alongside a passenger (a 63-year-old woman, also from Davenport).

The Fargo Fire Department responded to and extinguished the blaze. However, it was noted that as a result of the fire, traffic backed up into Minnesota — where a minor property damage crash occurred westbound on the same interstate. This accident was investigated by the MN State Patrol.

The Ram was a total loss. Neither the driver nor the passenger of the vehicle was injured. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
