Woman dies after being found unresponsive in Fargo's Cass County Jail

Authorities in North Dakota are investigating the death of a woman in Cass County Jail in Fargo Monday evening.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the 37-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a cell during a welfare check at around 11:30 p.m.

Lifesaving measures were commenced and assistance was provided by paramedics and fire medics, but the woman was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

The death is now being investigated by authorities including the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and the Cass County Coroner’s Office.

The woman's identity has not yet been released, nor have any details as to what she was being held for.
