    Falcon girls finish 6th at Big 9 golf tournament

    The Big 9 Conference hosted its girls tournament at the Northfield Golf Club on Monday. The Faribault girls golf team finished in the top half of the conference after shooting a 391 to place sixth overall in the standings.

    Senior Sarah Dobson led the Falcons by tying with Winona’s Kali Thompson and Austin’s Sydney Lewis for 14th overall. Dobson shot for par three times to finish with a 91 overall alongside Thompson and Lewis.

    Freshman Olivia Streefland followed close behind in a four-way tie with Winona’s Avery Foss, Mankato West’s Delaney Giesen and Rochester Century’s Briar Daire for 19th overall. Streefland shot for par six total times, which included four on the back nine, to finish with a 94.

    Junior Mariana Hager finished third on the team and in a three-way tie for 39th overall as the Falcons’ top-seeded golfer. Hager shot for par four times and matched Austin’s Reagan Harty and Century’s Elizabeth Youngman with a 102.

    Fellow junior Addison Thibodeau and Mayo’s Claire Nelson immediately followed her up by tying each other at a 104 for 42nd place overall. Freshman Claire Anderson finished in a three-way tie for 53rd place with a 11 and junior Jersey Hausen followed one stroke behind to finish in a five-way tie for 56th with a 112.
