Alleged drunken driver charged in injury crash

    2024-05-30

A driver allegedly had a blood alcohol concentration over three times the legal limit after causing a head-on injury crash just south of Faribault Tuesday night.

First-responders were called to the two-vehicle crash about 10 p.m. on Albers Avenue at 230th St. E., according to a court complaint.

Sarah Corrine Moe, 33, of Kenyon, was not injured but reportedly smelled of alcohol and was slurring her words.

The other driver had neck and wrist pain. Before he was taken to a hospital for evaluation he gave his account of the crash.

He reported he was southbound on Albers and Moe's Jeep did not fully stop before turning onto Albers. He said the Jeep went in the wrong lane toward him, and he went as far as he could onto the shoulder but the Jeep struck him head-on.

Moe allegedly admitted she had drank a pint of vodka that night. A preliminary breathalyzer that obtained only a weak sample gave a blood alcohol level of 0.15, charges say. A second breathalyzer after she was taken to jail allegedly gave a reading of 0.25.

Moe was charged Thursday in Rice County District Court with gross misdemeanor counts of DWI and criminal vehicular operation.
