Humboldt/Hartford Blanked by Alexandria in Region 5B
The Humboldt/Hartford legion baseball team lost their second game in the Region 5B tournament on Thursday, July 25th, ending their season. The host team, Alexandria, took the win 10-0. Alexandria got a run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. After a scoreless second inning, Alexandria scored three runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to end the game on the 10-run rule.
July 25 Amateur Baseball Roundup - Dimock-Emery edges Mount Vernon in District 5B opener
PARKSTON — Dimock-Emery held off Mount Vernon in District 5B amateur baseball action on Thursday. The Raptors, who built a 6-0 lead after five innings, received 10 strikeouts from Jason Schmidt. Schmidt allowed five hits, two earned runs and walked one batter in five innings. Phil Johnson allowed three hits, two earned runs, one walk and struck out one batter in four innings.
Humboldt/Hartford Drops Region 5B Opener
The Humboldt/Hartford legion baseball team lost their Region 5B opening round game to Lake Norden/Badger 7-2 on Tuesday, July 23rd in Alexandria. Runs came in bunches for the two teams late in the game. The two teams were scoreless through four innings of play. Lake Norden/Badger finally broke through with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Humboldt/Hartford cut the lead in half, 4-2, with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Lake Norden/Badger, however, added three more runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.
Cornbelt District Tournament starts tonight
Teams from the Cornbelt baseball league head to Canova this weekend, for the District 4B Amateur Baseball Tournament. 7 of the 10 teams will qualify for the State Tournament in Mitchell. The Cornbelt has produced the state winner in each of the last three seasons. Games start tonight at 6pm...
