FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) A Farmington Hills man faces up to a year in prison for a moving violation that caused the death of an Orion Township man.

Adnan Eltobji, 54, is charged with a Moving Violation Causing Death.

Oakland County prosecutors say Eltobji was driving his 2012 Toyota Corolla when he pulled in front of a motorcyclist on North Lapeer near Oakwood Road in Oxford Township on May 1st around 4:45 p.m.

The victim was riding his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on North Lapeer Road, approaching a flashing yellow signal at Oakwood. Eltobji was driving eastbound. Further investigation revealed Eltobji “failed to come to a complete stop” at the flashing red signal at North Lapeer Road, and made a right turn onto southbound North Lapeer Road—“into the path of the motorcycle, causing the crash,” prosectors said.

The motorcyclist was identified as Jimmie Allen Haggadone, 66, of Orion Township.

Haggadone was thrown from his motorcycle and landed in the median of the road. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Eltobji was treated for minor injuries.

He was given a $5,000 bond. He’s due back in court on August 21st. If convicted, he faces up to a year in prison or a $2,000 fine or both.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit conducted the investigation.
