    Shelter Buddies

    Pitt County Animal Services is hosting the 2024 Shelter Buddies Reading Program at 4550 County Home Road. Kids ages 6-15 are invited to bring books to read from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays through Aug. 16. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.     Mutt Strutters

    Pitt County Animal Services’ award-winning Mutt Strutters program is seeking volunteers to walk dogs at 9 a.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. Sundays. Minimum age is 18. For more information, call Barbara Holcombe at 902-1723 or email barbara.holcombe@pittcountync.gov.

    ‘Rover Nights’

    The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is scheduling “Rover Nights,” a chance for people to host a dog for a sleepover. It is designed to give dogs a respite from the shelter environment. Crates, food, and treats provided. To volunteer, contact hsecvolunteer@gmail.com at least 24 hours in advance. Applicants will receive confirmation before scheduling pickup.
