A Jacksonville man was charged with two separate counts of child abuse after his 10-month-old daughter was found in a tub suffering a skull fracture.

Pitt County court documents said that on Tuesday Farmville police charged Richard Lee Williams, 39, of 250 Bishop Drive, Jacksonville, with intentional child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. The arrest was made on July 20 and he was charged on Tuesday.

Warrants for Williams' arrest said he left the child in a bathtub where water entered her stomach, lungs and fractured skull. He is also accused of inflicting the head injury but warrants did not specify how the wound was dealt.

Williams was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond. He is set to appear in Pitt County District Court on Aug. 7.

Williams has a prior conviction for misdemeanor child abuse from a March 12, 2014, incident in Onslow County.
