Merchants National Bank sponsored the annual Festival of the Bells Pet Parade Saturday morning, July 6 at Crossroads Park in Hillsboro. This year’s entrants included dogs, rabbits, a hermit crab, a miniature horse and even an emu. Categories included most unique, most patriotic, most lookalike, sports fans and anything goes.

Hillsboro Library hosting 16 local authors
A total of 16 local authors will be at the Hillsboro library’s annual Local Author Night on Wednesday, July 17, from 5-7 p.m. “This is always one of our favorite events,” said circulation manager Sarah Davidson. “We have so much talent in the area, and we love having the chance to celebrate it. We have many returning authors as well as several who are brand new to the event.”

Registration underway for Kids & Co. Drama, Rising Star camps
The 30th-annual Kids & Company Drama Camp will be held July 15 – 19 at Wilmington High School Auditeria. This week-long theatre intensive camp welcomes kids and teens 12 to 18 years of age and meets from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Rising Star Camp will be held July 15 – 19 at Wilmington High School Auditeria as well. This camp is for kids 6-12 years of age and meets from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
