Versiti Blood Center of Ohio calling for donors amid emergency blood shortage
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A dangerously low supply of donor blood in the state has prompted the Versiti Blood Center of Ohio to make an emergency appeal for blood donations. Versiti said their donation count last week was the lowest recorded this year with some types having less than a day of availability. The organization warns that this could force hospitals to delay treatments including surgeries, which could jeopardize the health and safety of patients depending on these life-saving treatments.
